1:38 is incredible!
It does not flash me as the original, it has NO MAGIC
I’m all for covers, and she’s undoubtetly a good singer, but this just seems really unfitting.
@Fixdal never
this might be better than the original.
@catoushka The point of a COVER is not to make a new song (or to improve the old one) but just to incorporate a little of yourself into the original song. I love Beirut and Florence and the Machine
fuck me. this is so amazing.
shes brilliant!
@halep09 “The Machine” is a mate of hers called Sophia, also called “sadsack” which is what is tatooed on florences left forearm
She is so irritating, no effort here to make it her own it’s practically the same apart from her whining voice, leave it to Beirut
@ginastripes no need to use the f word, but you are surely right. She is amazing!
wailing. don’t enjoy it at all. it just doesn’t seem as heartfelt. nice idea, but i don’t like it.
don’t like this version of beiruts song :’(
@rareflorence Zach does the trumpet parts vocally sometimes. I don’t recall whether he does in the recording with the instruments drowning it out or not, but he definitely does it pretty much the same way.
cos cudownego!!!! wonderful!
@persiiv In interviews / reviews, ‘the machine’ refers to the rest of the band. Cool comparison though.
I was wondering if The Machine in the band’s name is the same one to which Rage Against The Machine are referring to. Well, these are my morning thoughts. Just woke up.
she perfect love her xxx
Total shite. Just so awful. My god…does nobody get it anymore? Or have the marketing bods got such control over people. I’m weary
It’s like killing this song.. She has a great voice but she does not fit in this song.
This makes my skin crawl
I like this version. Her voice definitely works well in this song. She makes the song sound like her own. That said, I like the Beirut version better. Here, I miss the other instruments. The trumpets and especially the percussion. It’s the Gypsy feel that makes Beirut’s version work so well. It’s such a great song I think any quality artist or group could make it sound good. However, Beirut’s version will probably always be the best.
This makes me want to shoot my self, the whole point of Beirut is there unique gypsy feel, and this is just turns it into generic “trendy” crap
she has my heart
oh no
